SNAKES ON A BASE!

After dinner I was going in to my room when CDR was at her door with a bucket in her hand. She said "John, do you see that?" Down the hall was the snake slithering away from CDR's room. It proceeded to go into another door which was locked. About 20 minutes later and 3 rooms the snake hid in, we had Norm the Navy seal turned Ortho Physicians Asst. charm the snake. It was a catch and release program. Needless to say everyone in here was sealing off the bottom of their doors that night.

I am currently in northern Iraq, in the Army and I caught a snake very similar to that. In fact it is about a quarter of the size as the one you have in the picture but I am having a hard time identifying it vie internet. (that is about the only resource I could use here) All the websites I visited say there are only 6 types of snakes in iraq and all venomous! It has the same patterns as the one you have shown although I think it is probably a baby. would you happen to know anything in reguards to the name of this critter?
